We highly encourage you to verify the electric license of anyone you are considering to perform your electric work online at the Maryland Electricians Public Query. (For us, it will state “Qualified Agent” which means that Stephen Fusting has assigned his Masters Electrician License to our company, Fusting Electric LLC, & our company holds the insurance rather than an individual.) You can also find a copy of our electrical license here.
To learn more, feel free to check out our blog post about who is licensed to perform electrical work & how to verify their license.

In Maryland, the ONLY two types of people legally permitted to provide electric services electric work are:
– A Licensed Master Electrician
– A Licensed Journeyman Electrician operating under the direction or control of a Licensed Master Electrician
The following people are NOT qualified, licensed, nor legally permitted to provide electric services:
– Licensed Apprentice Electricians
– Licensed Journeyperson Electricians operating without the direction & control of a Licensed Master Electrician (i.e. a journeyperson performing “side work” or independently operating an electrical contracing business)
– Maryland Home Improvement Contractors (handymen, carpenters, general contractors) – An MHIC license is not an electric license.
To search to see if someone is licensed to perform electric work, visit the Maryland Electricians Public Query. If the results state “Qualified Agent” or “Statewide Master Electrician,” that person is a Licensed Master Electrician & is fully licensed to provide electric services. If it states “journey statewide electrician,” that person legally can provide electric services ONLY under the direction or control of a Licensed Master Electrician. If it states “apprentice statewide electrician” that person is NOT licensed provide electric services – only assist with it.
With the big guys, you get the big name, but never the big guy himself. With a larger company or chain, you typically get a journeyman performing the work (or if the company is a bit shady & trying to cut costs, you may only get apprentices – people who aren’t legally permitted/licensed to provide electric services, only assist with it). It’s rare you would ever get a Master Electrician performing the work.
With Fusting Electric, you get a Licensed Master Electrician at your door every time. Additionally, we don’t have the overhead costs and expenses that larger companies have like rent, multiple trucks, payroll, and fancy software. This allows us to offer competitive pricing while still delivering the best of the best service.
